PAINT THE COUNTY is a grant-funded community art project. I was selected to receive money to bring soccer-themed removable window paintings to local businesses in Snohomish County in celebration of the upcoming World Cup. The goal is to create fun, eye-catching designs that support small businesses, promote local events and watch parties, and spread community excitement across Snohomish County.
To begin the project, I launched a one-month community nomination process in which people could nominate any Snohomish County business they wanted to receive a window painting—and share why that business deserved to be chosen. In total, I received 53 nominations for 23 local businesses.
At the end of the nomination period, I pulled 8 business names from a hat to receive a Paint the County window painting. One was unable to participate and was replaced. Another dropped out at the last minute, and I did not replace them; I just painted more on the existing seven businesses.
Below, you’ll be able to follow along as each window is painted, learn more about the businesses selected, and read a little about the nominations that helped bring this project to life!
EDWARD JONES

Edward Jones was the first of eight businesses selected to be painted. Below, you'll read the nomination that came through; it's incredibly heartwarming.
”In a small town like Arlington, the most meaningful stories are often the ones where people grow up here, leave to gain experience, and then return to invest back into the community that raised them.
Connor Cummings is one of those stories.
An Arlington High School alumnus, Connor now serves the community as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in the heart of historic downtown Arlington on Olympic Avenue, just steps from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Even more special, this office is a partnership built with his brother, Cordell. Two brothers working side by side with a shared belief in family, community, and helping others plan for their future.
Connor’s love of sports, his connection to local families, and his heart for service reflect the spirit of Arlington itself. Their office is not just a place where financial conversations happen; it’s a place where neighbors are welcomed, relationships are built, and people are encouraged to believe in the possibilities of their future.
As downtown Arlington continues to grow and revitalize, projects like the Paint the County window murals help tell the stories of the people who make this town what it is. A mural on their window would not only bring color and creativity to our historic downtown corridor, but also serve as a visible reminder that hope and opportunity belong to everyone in our community.
As the new Business Office Administrator in the Arlington branch, I hope to help bridge relationships among local businesses, families, and organizations of all sizes. Recognizing Connor through this project would celebrate a hometown story, one rooted in family, service, and a belief in the future of Arlington.”
RODEO LOUNGE
Rodeo Lounge was self-nominated for Paint the County, and their story is a great reminder of how much a little brightness can matter. After a recent period of break-ins and damage, they wanted artwork that would feel noticeable, welcoming, and community-focused while also celebrating the excitement of the FIFA World Cup. Since opening in 2024, Rodeo Lounge has become a unique local spot offering coffee, food, adult beverages, live music, and events, while also serving as a calm, cozy place to work or unwind during the day. This window painting is a chance to help bring fresh energy to their storefront, support a newer small business, and add a little extra joy and visibility to the Smokey Point community.e music and events at their establishment. It's also a great space for a calm, quiet workday!

COUNTRY
BURGER
Country Burger was both self-nominated and nominated by a customer for Paint the County, and it is easy to see why. As a small local business facing the same challenges so many small businesses are navigating right now, they continue to show up for their community in meaningful ways. They regularly support local artists, schools, nonprofits, booster programs, and other small businesses through sponsorships, donations, collaborations, and social media shout-outs. As an arts sponsor at the local high school, Country Burger already helps keep creativity alive in their community, and this window painting is a fun way to celebrate them, brighten their storefront, and return a little of that support back to a business that gives so much.
ARLINGTON AIRPORT

Arlington Airport was self-nominated for Paint the County, with the hope of welcoming extra activity as soccer clubs, fans, and visitors travel through the area for the FIFA World Cup. As one of Arlington’s important community hubs, the airport is more than just a place for planes — it supports local businesses, travelers, aviation enthusiasts, events, and the overall growth and connection of the area. With so many people coming and going, this project is a fun opportunity to add color, excitement, and a memorable first impression while celebrating both the World Cup and the pride of Arlington. The airport already plays a role in connecting people to our community, and this window painting helps make that welcome feel even more creative, festive, and local.
SNOHOMISH FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

Snohomish Family Chiropractic was self-nominated for Paint the County, and their location makes them a perfect spot for a bright World Cup-themed window.
Sitting along one of the main routes into and through Downtown Snohomish, their large front windows face Avenue D, where locals, visitors, and tourists can enjoy the artwork as they pass by. Their office also serves many soccer-loving kids, families, and adults each week, making this theme a fun and meaningful fit for the people who already walk through their doors. With a history of supporting creative window art, Snohomish Family Chiropractic is helping bring extra color, community spirit, and World Cup excitement to Downtown Snohomish.
DOUBLE DD MEATS
Double DD Meats was nominated as part of West Plaza Marketplace in Mountlake Terrace. They also received a community nomination celebrating them as the oldest business in Mountlake Terrace, with 71 years of history, generosity, and local recognition. Known by so many in the area, Double DD Meats has long been a staple for families, gatherings, game days, and community traditions. Their reputation for giving back and supporting the people around them makes them such a meaningful Paint the County winner. This window painting is a fun way to celebrate a beloved longtime business, bring extra energy to the marketplace, and add a little World Cup excitement to a place that already feels like a local landmark.

SNOHOMISH PIE COMPANY

Snohomish Pie Company’s Mountlake Terrace location was nominated as part of West Plaza Marketplace. The building owner shared that the tenants were excited about the Paint the County opportunity and wanted to be included, making this a fun community effort for the whole plaza. Snohomish Pie Company is a well-loved local business with locations in Snohomish and Mountlake Terrace, a new Lake Stevens location coming soon, and they are also celebrating their 30-year anniversary as a business. Known for pie, coffee, treats, and comfort food, they bring a little sweetness to everyday stops, celebrations, and local traditions. This window painting is a fun way to add World Cup excitement to the marketplace, brighten their storefront, and celebrate a growing local business with deep Snohomish County roots.
