PAINT THE COUNTY is a grant-funded community art project. I was selected to receive money to bring soccer-themed removable window paintings to local businesses in Snohomish County in celebration of the upcoming World Cup. The goal is to create fun, eye-catching designs that support small businesses, promote local events and watch parties, and spread community excitement across Snohomish County.

To begin the project, I launched a one-month community nomination process in which people could nominate any Snohomish County business they wanted to receive a window painting—and share why that business deserved to be chosen. In total, I received 53 nominations for 23 local businesses.

At the end of the nomination period, I pulled 8 business names from a hat to receive a Paint the County window painting.

Below, you’ll be able to follow along as each window is painted, learn more about the businesses selected, and read a little about the nominations that helped bring this project to life!

Edward Jones was the first of eight businesses selected to be painted. Below, you'll read the nomination that came through; it's incredibly heartwarming.
”In a small town like Arlington, the most meaningful stories are often the ones where people grow up here, leave to gain experience, and then return to invest back into the community that raised them.
Connor Cummings is one of those stories.
An Arlington High School alumnus, Connor now serves the community as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in the heart of historic downtown Arlington on Olympic Avenue, just steps from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Even more special, this office is a partnership built with his brother, Cordell. Two brothers working side by side with a shared belief in family, community, and helping others plan for their future.
Connor’s love of sports, his connection to local families, and his heart for service reflect the spirit of Arlington itself. Their office is not just a place where financial conversations happen; it’s a place where neighbors are welcomed, relationships are built, and people are encouraged to believe in the possibilities of their future.
As downtown Arlington continues to grow and revitalize, projects like the Paint the County window murals help tell the stories of the people who make this town what it is. A mural on their window would not only bring color and creativity to our historic downtown corridor, but also serve as a visible reminder that hope and opportunity belong to everyone in our community.
As the new Business Office Administrator in the Arlington branch, I hope to help bridge relationships among local businesses, families, and organizations of all sizes. Recognizing Connor through this project would celebrate a hometown story, one rooted in family, service, and a belief in the future of Arlington.”
